A Year in Review: 2013

Now that all of the confetti has fallen, the balloons are deflated, and the champagne bottles are empty (don’t worry I have more under the bar cart),  we start our first weeks of 2014!

Before I get on with my goals and plans for the new year, let’s take a look back on 2013!

May 2014 bring happiness, joy, and many new adventures to all of you!

New Year, New House!

It has been said that how you spend your New Year’s Eve will dictate the rest of the year.  Is this really true?  I have no idea, but if so I am certain that my fellow and I are set for a new adventure.  On December 30th, we closed on our very first house!  After a year and a half of house hunting (or more – I eventually lost track), we are officially homeowners!  Time to prepare to spend most weekends at the nearest hardware store.

On New Year’s Eve, we rang in 2014 in our empty house with a bottle of champagne and some good ol’ clorox cleaner.  It was absolutely perfect.  Just before midnight, we replaced our scrub brushes with champagne flutes, toasted to our new home, and began to envision all of the little design details and do-it-yourself projects we have in store for the future.

Here we are on our front porch, among the overgrown trees.  Those guys really need some work, come spring.  We have big plans for our home and have already started some much needed updating.  I hope you’ll follow along as I document our design ideas and room transformations.  It’s currently a blank slate and we can’t wait to make into a warm house filled with love, laughter, and cheer.

A Holiday Table

I love entertaining and I can’t wait to design a space perfect for just that.  In the mean time, I’ll admire the table setting that my aunt created for our Christmas Eve dinner.  With a little greenery and candles, you can spruce up an ordinary dinner into a holiday delight!
